“HORSES IN THE PARK” CLASS OFFERINGS

Hunter and Equitation Divisions
LEADLINE: Will be shown at walk/trot. Exhibitors may not cross enter into any other classes except Show Grooming, In Hand and Walk Equitation. Limited to exhibitors 7 and under.

SHOW GROOMING: Exhibitors will be judged on preparation of the horse and tack. Will be allowed to take into class any grooming aids you would have at the ingate. (No grooming allowed after judge has reached your horse or pony) Horses or ponies will be shown in full tack while being judged on cleanliness, neatness, and horse turnout. No special attire required for handlers. Part of In Hand division.

IN HAND: Horses must be shown in bridle and will judged on confirmation, way of movement, appearance, and hunter suitability on this day. All in hand and show grooming classes will be shown as one division. Daily and year end champion and reserve will receive awards. Attire is slacks and shirt. Riders in other classes may wear show clothes.

WALK/TROT: To be shown at a walk and trot in both directions. Walk class will be shown at a walk only. Hunter classes will be judged on manners and suitability of mount for walk/trot. Equitation classes will be judged on rider. Exhibitors may cross enter into Open Walk-Trot or Baby Crossrails, but if they enter baby crossrails they cannot enter walk class. Limited to riders 10 and under in their first year of showing at any organized show.

OPEN WALK/TROT: To be shown at a walk and trot in both directions. Walk class will be shown at a walk only. Hunter classes will be judged on manners and suitability of mount for walk/trot. Equitation classes will be judged on rider. Open to all exhibitors.

BABY CROSSRAILS: Consists of walk/trot hunter class and walk/trot/canter equitation class. The two over fences classes will be shown over four baby crossrails, riding once on each diagonal. Fences may be trotted or cantered. Riders may cross enter into walk/trot division or open walk-trot, but cannot enter walk class. Limited to exhibitors 13 and under.

CROSSRAIL HUNTER AND EQUITATION: Over fences classes will include up to eight fences in a course consisting of crossrails which may be trotted or cantered. Hunter classes will be judged on suitability and manners while equitation classes will be judged on the rider. Additional testing may be asked in the Medal class. Rider will be asked to canter in the under saddle and flat class. Exhibitors may only cross enter into the Short Stirrup and Pleasure divisions. Limited to riders 17 and under who have not shown over fences prior to this year.

SHORT STIRRUP HUNTER AND EQUITATION: Over fences classes will be shown over a simple course of up to eight fences at 21”. The under saddle and flat classes will be shown at a walk, trot, and canter in both directions. Additional testing may be required in the medal class. Exhibitors may cross enter into crossrails (one year only) or the pleasure division only. Limited to riders 17 and under who have not shown more than one year over fences.

PLEASURE: Extended gaits may be asked in the Bridle Path hack class. Judged on manners, way of going and suitability of mount. Open to all exhibitors who show in canter flat classes and professionals.

NOVICE HUNTER: The over fences classes will consist of up to eight fences, excluding oxers, that will be jumped at 2’0”. The class will be judged as a hunter division with manners and movement stressed. Excessive speed will be penalized. Horse/rider combination may show in this division for only one year and may cross enter into Pleasure. Limited to horses/ponies or riders who have not shown at any level higher than short stirrup prior to this show

NOVICE EQUITATION: The over fences classes will be shown over a maximum of eight fences, excluding oxers, at 2’0”. Additional testing may be required in the medal class. Limited to riders who have not won more than six blue ribbons in any equitation classes beyond short stirrup prior to this show year.

LOW HUNTER: The over fences classes will be shown at 2’0” and will include up to ten obstacles, including walls, oxers, bending lines and occasionally combinations. The division will be judged by regular hunter standards. Horse/rider combinations must not have shown at more than 2' 6"at Heritage Horse Shows and may only cross enter into the Child/Adult and Pleasure divisions. Horse/rider combinations may show for a maximum of 2 years in this division. No Professionals.

LOW EQUITATION: The over fences classes will be shown at 2'0" - 2’3” and will include up to ten obstacles, including walls, oxers, bending lines and occasionally combinations. Rider must not have shown at more than 2’6" equitation at any show. (Exception may be made for 4-H shows which offer no 2’0” division) Exhibitors may cross enter into the Child/Adult and Pleasure divisions. Horse/rider combinations may show for a maximum of 2 years in this division.

CHILD/ADULT HUNTER: The over fence classes will be shown over a course of at least 7 fences at 2'6" and a 2'9" section. Will be judged on manners, way of going, and soundness. Exhibitor may cross enter into any division eligible. No professionals.

CHILD/ADULT EQUITATION: The over fences classes will be shown over a course of up to ten fences at 2’6” and a section at 2'9". Additional testing may be required in the medal class. No Professionals.

GREEN HUNTER: The over fences classes will be shown over a course of fences at 2’3”or 2'9". There is no restriction on riders, and combination may cross enter into any division where eligible. Limited to any horse in its first or second year of showing over fences at any show.

OPEN HUNTER: The over fences classes will be set at 3’0” with at least seven fences and two changes of direction. Horses will be judged on manners, way of going, and soundness. Open to all exhibitors. (as season progresses jumps can be raised with rider/trainer request and agreement.)

OPEN EQUITATION: The over fences classes will be set at 3’0” with up to ten fences and two changes of direction. Additional testing may be required in the medal class. Open to all exhibitors.

WARM UP CLASSES: All warm up classes may be shown by any horse/pony or rider officially entered in the show. Points will not be counted for daily or year end high awards.

SPECIAL CLASSES: Any special classes such as classics, stakes, or addbacks offered during the year will be shown as separate classes and points earned will not count towards daily or year end awards.



Year End Awards
OVERALL HUNTER RIDER: Will be awarded to the rider who accumulates the most points in hunter classes that are not part of the Beginning Rider divisions. Riders may enter as many classes as they like and qualify for in the Class Offerings. Exhibitor may show more than one horse. If a rider shows more than one horse in the over fences classes, another qualifying rider may show the under saddle class, with the horse and new rider receiving the points for Overall Hunter. In-Hand classes are not eligiable.

OVERALL EQUITATION RIDER: Will be awarded to the rider that accumulates the most points in the equitation classes. Exhibitor may show only one horse in equitation divisions. Rider will only receive points for most advanced division shown. Ch/Res.

OVERALL HUNTER HORSE: Awarded to the horse that accumulates the most points in hunter classes including In Hand. Horses/ponies may be shown in as many classes with as many riders as qualified in the Class Offerings. Award to be presented to owner. Ch/Res.

DIVISION AWARDS: Awards will be presented in all divisions. There will be 1 set of division awards with Saturday and Sunday combined. These awards will be based on horse/rider combinations. (Same horse/same rider) . NOTE: EXHIBITORS MAY REQUEST A ONE TIME EXEMPTION DUE TO SERIOUS INJURY OR ILLNESS (MINIMUM 3 SHOWS) OR SALE OF HORSE. EXHIBITOR MUST SHOW PROOF OF NEED WHEN WRITTEN REQUEST IS PRESENTED.
